Bag Turning Conveyor

Overview

The Industrial Kinetics Bag Turning Conveyor is engineered to receive upright bags from a V-Trough Conveyor, gently knock them down, and rotate them so that the bottom (heavier) end leads for inline discharge. Unlike a kicker conveyor, which discharges bags 90 degrees from the infeed direction, the Bag Turning Conveyor maintains an inline flow path, allowing smooth transfer into downstream conveyors or palletizing systems. This conveyor ensures proper bag orientation for consistent pallet stacking and automated handling. Available with standard structural supports or an optional hand-crank adjustable height base, it delivers precision control and adaptability across various bagging line configurations.

Why Choose Us

The Industrial Kinetics Bag Turning Conveyor provides reliable inline bag orientation for downstream processes. Built to CEMA standards, this conveyor is constructed from heavy-gauge steel and engineered for long-term industrial performance. Its adaptable design allows for both fixed and adjustable turn mechanisms, accommodating a wide range of bag sizes and materials. With flexible height options and durable mechanical construction, Industrial Kinetics delivers a solution that enhances product alignment, safety, and overall production efficiency.

System Integration

The Bag Turning Conveyor integrates seamlessly between V-Trough Bag Filling Conveyors and Bag Kicker or Conditioning Conveyors. Its inline discharge design maintains continuous product flow, minimizing handling disruptions. Standardized frame dimensions allow easy mechanical alignment, while optional VFD and PLC controls enable synchronized operation with existing filler, sealer, and palletizing systems. Whether used as a standalone orientation device or as part of a complete bag-handling system, it ensures precise bag positioning for efficient downstream processing.

What industries typically use these systems:

01

Feed & Grain – Turns filled bags to ensure proper bottom-leading orientation for palletizing.

02

Food & Ingredients – Aligns flour, sugar, and starch bags for uniform downstream handling.

03

Chemicals & Minerals – Reorients dense or powdered product bags for consistent stacking.

A vehicle manufacturer was looking for a new method to deliver materials for the assembly of vehicles to four parallel assembly lines. IK developed, engineered, and implemented an overhead pallet conveyor system that provided great benefits to the vehicle manufacturer.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the difference between a bag turner and a bag kicker?

A bag turner rotates the bag inline with the conveyor flow, while a kicker knocks the bag 90 degrees from the infeed direction.

  • How does the bag turner rotate the bag?

It uses a fixed or adjustable deflector plate or roller assembly that guides the bag’s leading edge to rotate or “walk” it smoothly so the heavier end leads.

  • Can the height be adjusted?

Yes. The conveyor can include a hand-crank adjustable height base or an optional motorized lift for automated height control.

  • What bag types can it handle?

Suitable for paper, plastic, and polywoven bags up to 150 lb and 40 in tall.

  • Is variable speed available?

Yes. An optional VFD allows belt speed adjustment for optimal turning control.

  • Can it be integrated with existing conveyors?

Yes. The bag turner is designed for direct integration with Industrial Kinetics’ V-Trough, Conditioning, or Palletizing conveyors.

  • What maintenance does it require?

Routine maintenance includes checking belt tracking, turn plate alignment, and height adjustment components.

  • Are stainless-steel versions available?

Yes. Stainless-steel construction is available for food-grade and corrosive environments.
