Pallet Handling Motor driven live roller

Overview

The Pallet Handling MDR (Motor Driven Roller) Conveyor is a 24VDC-powered, zero pressure accumulation conveyor designed for controlled movement and buffering of pallets and unitized loads. This design combines the mechanical robustness of traditional chain driven live roller construction with the integrated drives, sensing, and controls of MDR conveyor technology, enabling simplified zoning and reduced mechanical complexity.

The Pallet Handling MDR is intended for applications where pallet weights, speeds, and conveying surfaces are compatible with MDR torque limitations and where no contact accumulation is required.

Why Choose Us

Industrial Kinetics applies established pallet conveyor engineering practices to MDR technology, ensuring mechanical integrity while leveraging the advantages of distributed 24VDC drives. Factory-installed drives, photoeyes, and prewired bed sections reduce installation time and startup risk. Each Pallet Handling MDR system is engineered with a clear understanding of MDR performance limits, resulting in reliable, application-appropriate designs rather than overextended solutions.

A vehicle manufacturer was looking for a new method to deliver materials for the assembly of vehicles to four parallel assembly lines. IK developed, engineered, and implemented an overhead pallet conveyor system that provided great benefits to the vehicle manufacturer.

System Integration

The Pallet Handling MDR conveyor integrates with pallet transfers, turntables, and conventional CDLR conveyor sections where zoning or buffering is required. Modular MDR control architecture allows straightforward electrical integration with higher-level control systems. Interfaces to AGVs, AMRs, or palletizing cells can be supported where load characteristics are compatible with MDR operation.

What industries typically use these systems:

01

Manufacturing: Controlled accumulation of pallets between process steps

02

Packaging: Buffer zones upstream or downstream of palletizing systems

03

Warehousing & Distribution: Low-speed pallet accumulation and controlled release

04

Automotive & Industrial Assembly: Unitized load handling where reduced contact is required

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is this conveyor suitable for heavy pallets?

This conveyor is limited by MDR torque capabilities. Pallet weight, surface conditions, and required speed must be evaluated to confirm suitability.

  • Can pallets be driven into a fixed stop?

No. Overdriving pallets into a stop is not recommended for MDR pallet handling applications.

  • Is plow guiding supported?

Plow guiding is not possible with this Pallet Handling MDR configuration.

  • What power options are available?

Multiple 120 VAC and 480 VAC input power supplies are available, providing 24 VDC outputs sized to system demand.

  • Are controls shipped installed?

Yes. Drive cards, photoeyes, and DC power wiring are installed and tested prior to shipment.
